Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool to FA Cup & Carabao Cup glory this year with the Reds winning the title race down to the wire. Liverpool could clinch a treble by beating Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final. Emma Hayes was also recognized at the LMA Awards
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s Premier League manager has been awarded the Sir Alex Ferguson trophy as the LMA manager award.
Liverpool won the title race by finishing second to Premier League champions Manchester City with 92 points. They were also close to winning the Quadruple, which is the closest English side to win in history.
Klopp, as he accepted his award, said that the Premier League season was at its climax. Only two matches were left, and the rest were filled with excitement.
It was a little nerve-wracking, and it didn’t go as planned, but we are now over it. You either have the most talented coaching staff or you are a genius when you win such a prize. I’m here with my four coaching staff and they know how much it means to me.
Klopp also received the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy. This trophy is elected by all managers from all divisions. Sir Alex announced the winner and said, “This is agony. It’s absolute agony…Jurgen Klipp.”
Liverpool manager said: “This being voted by my colleagues to be the most important prize you could get is obviously.
“I don’t believe in individual awards in football. It is a team sport, and I wouldn’t be anything without them. It’s all about what we can accomplish together and what we did together.
Klopp’s men could still win a cup triple if they beat Real Madrid in Paris Saturday, and add the Champions League success to this season’s FA Cup Cup and League Cup wins.
